Our Mission Statement:
To welcome people to faith in Jesus Christ; to equip persons with a faith that works in real life; to send us in service into the world in Jesus’ name.
A Little History
On August 28th 1873, the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church was organized at 114 W. Ripley Street.
In 1910, 37 years later, the first services in English were introduced but only in the evening of every 4th Sunday.
On Oct. 26th 1958 the last service at the old church site and the first service at 703 South Ripley Ave. were conducted.
In April 1987 Dr. Herbert Chilstrom, son of this congregation became the first Presiding Bishop of the newly formed Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
In 1995 a new fellowship hall and kitchen were added to the building and named in honor of Dr. Chilstrom.
Join us each Sunday and learn how God has lead us every step of the way, and will continue to lead us into our future as faithful Disciples of the Gosple.
